We are now almost finished building our new three bedroom cottage which will be called Bluebell. An outside picture is on the bottom of this page. More will follow with internal views soon.

The incubators were "stocked" with duck & chicken eggs in February & we had some new arrivals at Easter. Our orphan lambs are being bottle fed twice  daily & have settled in well.

We took up beekeeping two years ago and it has been a steep learning curve having lost the first bees to a swarm and the second having died last year we were glad to see the hive has been taken over by swarm. So no honey again this year but we think that our luck must be changing at last.

Pictured below are our four little pigs John, Paul, George & Ringo which are at the far end of the field. Also to add to the fun we now some have mice - Jane's idea!

All of our younger visitors had fun helping with the feeding of the animals and if they would admit it so do some of the adults. This was the focus both in the morning and in the evening for a number of our guests while still allowing the day to be free to enjoy the attractions on offer locally. We  have chickens, ducks,  guinea-pigs, a guinea foul & pigs.
For those not wanting any involvement with the animals Allender Farm provides a wonderful base to explore North Devon from.

Visitors have reported seeing many common buzzards, a pair of nuthatches with their young, yellowhammers, a pied and yellow wagtail, two types of woodpeckers, robins, sparrows and wrens in and around our garden so it's worth keeping your eyes open to see if you can add to the list which we will happily mention. A robin  nested in the garden and a pied wagtail successfully raised chicks in a nest in the garage as did a wren that took over an old swallows nest!

The swallows & house martins returned on the 18th of April and were spotted by Max walking up the lane to catch the school bus. This was 13 days later than in 2006. They departed on the 16th of September which was one day earlier. The swallows nested in the garage again this year & the house martins repaired last years nest and successfully raised their brood under the eaves of the house.

We have used the facilities at Mullacott Equestrian Centre which offers horse riding, pony trekking & quad biking and can recommend their facilities. A link to their web site is at the top of the page.

We would like to thank all our visitors for their help and support again this year and are glad to see a number have booked to come back again this year.
